Atlanta Dogwood Festival
The Dogwood Festival happens every spring in Piedmont Park. In 2006 it will be April 7,8, and 9. It is a great community event with artists and food vendors lining the lake in the Park, several stages with a wide variety of music and various other types of performances, and all of it is free and very well attended.
Atlanta Jazz Festival
2006 will be Atlanta’s 29th annual Jazz Festival. This month long event features many acts in different venues throughout Atlanta. In 2005 the event culminated with a three day festival in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park over Memorial Day weekend that featured "Internationally Renowned Jazz Artists" It is organized by the
City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs.
National Black Arts Festival
From July 14- July 26 2006 Atlanta will celebrate the National Black Arts Festival. At this link there is an ongoing calender of Black Arts and Performances throughout the rest of the year.
Georgia Renaissance Festival
It’s April 15- June 4 2006 A medieval village in rural Georgia with knights jousting, roasted Turkey legs, kissing wenches, and craftsmen plying their wares. Great fun for the whole family!
Georgia State Fair
From September 21,- Oct. 1 2006 you can ride the rides or wander a true Carnival midway. Great displays, exhibits and performances of all kinds. From the Extreme Canine stunt dog show to the Human Cannonball, there is something for everyone!
Sweet Auburn Spring Fest
Located in the sweet Auburn Historical District, which is the home of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Park and Visitors Center, this is a large street festival with music venues and food vendors. It was May 5 & 6 in 2005 and the dates for 2006 are yet to be announced.
Inman Park Neighborhood Festival
Located in Inman Park which is about 2 miles east of downtown Atlanta this historic neighborhood has antebellum mansions and tree lined streets. It is a collection of artists and vendors, a very eclectic parade, music stages, dance performances and a tour of homes. April 28-30 2006
Atlanta Greek Festival A long time (30yr) Atlanta tradition the 100 year old Annunciation Cathedral hosts an annual festival of traditional Greek food and performance. It is so well attended that you can rarely find parking anywhere near the site, so they offer shuttles from the Century Center office park!
