Stone Mountain Park is a wonderful local resource with a wide variety of things to do. The actual mountain is a solid piece of granite that has had a carving of the Confederate Civil War Heros on the face of the sheer granite walls of the mountain. There is a lake and natural park area with camping and lodging. There are 15 miles of walking trails, including a trail to the top of the mountain. There is a cable car sky ride for those who would rather ride to the top of the mountain. There is a scenic train, a riverboat cruise of the lake, and daily concerts and laser light shows during the summer.
