Most of the original homes in this historic intown area are large two-three story traditional homes that were built between 1904 and 1930. Many are grand homes with large gracious rooms and elegant appointments. They were built in this rolling tree lined area. Ansley Park is on the National Historic Register. There is a private golf course in the neighborhood, the Ansley Golf Club. Many of the houses enjoy a beautiful view of the fairways. The neighborhood is really quite hilly which leads to some excellent views. There are also quite a few parks throughout the neighborhood.
Ansley Park is bordered on the east side by Piedmont Park, Atlanta's "Central Park", and by Atlanta's Botanical Gardens. To the west is Peachtree Rd. which has Rhodes Hall, the High Museum of Art and the Woodruff Arts Center Complex, home to the Atlanta Symphony and the Alliance Theater. All of these are within a short walk. To the south is 14th street which has the Colony Square Hotel and the ScadShow. North of Ansley Park is an area called Brookwood which has a couple of historic neighborhoods, Brookwood Hills and Collier Hills. There are many shops, galleries, and restaurants all within a short walk of this classic historic neighborhood.
